Charlize Theron's The Old Guard Could Get A 3rd Film

Charlize Theron is already returning in The Old Guard 2 but the sequel might not be the last for the growing Netflix franchise. Producer Marc Evans has just teased that a possible third film could be announced soon.

The Old Guard premiered on Netflix in 2020 and it didn't take long before the streaming service confirmed that a sequel is in development. The details about The Old Guard 2 have not yet been revealed but Marc Evans is already hyping up a third movie.

Marc Evans recently spoke to Variety about the new Netflix film The Mother but he also discussed an upcoming project. While talking about The Old Guard 2, the producer revealed that the sequel's conclusion is a tease for a third film.

"There’s an ending to Number Two that kind of demands a Number Three, which makes me very happy," Evans said of The Old Guard.

It's an interesting revelation considering that fans have already been hoping that The Old Guard will be a full-blown movie franchise. After all, the 2020 film is based on the graphic novels by Greg Rucka, who also wrote the screenplay.

For now, a third film has not yet been confirmed but Marc Evans assures that Charlize Theron could return as Andromache of Scythia after The Old Guard 2.

"Charlize is a producer on the movie and deeply supportive of the franchise," he said.

The Old Guard 2 will be directed by Victoria Mahoney and will bring back Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The original cast will be joined by Uma Thurman and Henry Golding, both of whom have roles that are still undisclosed.

The second The Old Guard film has not yet been given an official release date. However, the movie is already expected to premiere on Netflix later this year. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
