Fresh from her comedy action film, Shotgun Wedding, another Jennifer Lopez's newest film is making its way to streaming services soon.
The film, entitled The Mother, brings back JLo to a genre she is comfortable in: action. But judging by the premise of the film, we won't be surprised if it will have some element of drama in it. After all, it's a story of a mother who will do whatever she can to protect her child.

When Is Jlo’s The Mother Coming Out?
Jennifer Lopez's The Mother was first unveiled in January 2021. Shortly after this film was announced, Netlix revealed that this movie project would be JLo's multi-year deal with Netflix.
The cast and crew started filming in Vancouver, British Columbia in October 2021. But as they were nearing the end of filming in Canada, they had to suspend it in January 2022 due to a new COVID outbreak. It then continued to shoot in March 2022 on Gran Canaria, where they also wrapped up by the end of the month.
After months in post production, The Mother is in its final stages and is waiting for its release date. Since it is part of a Netflix deal, The Mother will be skipping a theatrical release and will go straight to Netflix on May 12, 2023.
What Is The Mother Story About?
The official Netflix synopsis of The Mother reads:
"Years ago, a deadly assassin was forced to go on the run, which forced her to give up her only daughter. Years later, the female assassin returns her order to protect her daughter from some extremely dangerous men.”
The story simply answers the basic question of how far a mother is willing to go to protect her child. But in this movie, things are taken up a notch since JLo stars as an assassin.

The 52-year-old actress stars as the lead actress of The Mother. She is joined by the following cast members:

The film was directed by Niki Caro, who is most notable for her remake of the classic Disney animation, Mulan. The original screenplay was written by Misha Green with revisions by Andrea Berloff.
Apart from acting in the film, JLo is producing the film with Elaine Goldsmith Thomas for Nuyorican Productions.
Is There a Trailer for The Mother?
Slowly after JLo was confirmed to star in the film, a short teaser clip of the film was included in Netflix's slate of 2022 Movie Preview Trailers. The clip shows JLo on a fishing boat and saying towards the camera: "Tonight is movie night."
A year later, the first official teaser of The Mother was included in Netflix's TUDUM event, which was held in September 24, 2022. You can watch this clip here:
