In Chainsaw Man Chapter 127, Asa Mitaka and the Falling Devil reach the same tragic conclusion; Asa has no strong attachment to life.
Asa's only real fear is the sensation of falling. The devil promises a painless passing.
Thankfully, Asa's one regret, her failure to ever bond without tragedy, slows her fall just enough for Chainsaw Man to bounce back.
Denji tries his hardest to remind Asa about the good things in life, such as pets and ice cream, to persuade her that living is worth it.
The mention of cats slows Asa's fall enough for Denji to talk some sense in her.
He proves to be surprisingly skilled at consolation, telling Asa he's been at a similarly low point and understands how tough life can be.
His almost naïve optimism confuses Asa, who asks him how he was able to get over the bad things that happened to him.
Denji replies that he hasn't gotten over his traumas but he still tries to keep going.
