Captain America 4 has found its director! The Cloverfield Paradox director Julius Onah has just been confirmed to helm the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe film that will bring back Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson!
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news on Friday, announcing that the Nigerian-American filmmaker, who is best known for helming the 2018 thriller The Cloverfield Paradox, will direct the fourth installment of the Captain America film franchise for Marvel Studios. Julius Onah is the fourth name confirmed for the project.
It was previously reported that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier creator Malcolm Spellman will pen the film's screenplay with Dalan Musson, who he previously worked with on the MCU series. Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson aka the new Captain America, is expected to reprise his role in the upcoming project.
This is great news considering that fans have been waiting for an update on Captain America 4 since the project was officially announced last year. However, it looks like the update that fans have been waiting for might take a little longer than expected.
When Captain America 4 was announced, people wondered if the former Falcon will reunite with the Winter Soldier after everything that happened in their TV series. After all, Bucky Barnes had been very supportive of Sam Wilson getting the shield and becoming the new Captain America. In addition to that, fans are also hoping that Steve Rogers will make an appearance in the fourth Captain America film.
