Captain America 4 Starring Anthony Mackie Officially Confirmed

Well, that didn't take too long. It has only been a few hours since Sam Wilson debuted as the new Cap and Marvel Studios is already gearing up for his solo film. Captain America 4 is now in the works and Anthony Mackie is set to return as the new Cap.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the fourth installment of the Captain America films is now in development. It was also revealed that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier creator and head writer Malcolm Spellman will work on the upcoming project. Dalan Musson, who was one of the writers on the series, will help Spellman pen the screenplay for the movie.

Interestingly, the report did not confirm just yet whether Mackie will reprise his role as the new Captain America. On the other hand, it would be strange to do a fourth movie without the current Captain America. It might only be a matter of time before Mackie's involvement is announced. We're also hoping that Mackie will reunite with Sebastian Stan for the new project.

In the latest episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, we saw Sam put on the new Captain America wingsuit and wield the shield that he had given away but eventually reclaimed. Although the first season concluded with Sam and Bucky finally getting some time to relax, there is a possibility that they will be set for their new adventure soon.

For now, Captain America 4 is still in early development so it has not yet been given an official release date. In the meantime, you can see the new Cap in action in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 6, which is now available on Disney+.
