Camilla Parker-Bowles Just Wanted To Party, Have Fun Before Marrying Prince Charles

But in the book Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: From Outcast to Future Queen Consort, royal expert Angela Levin revealed that Camilla Parker-Bowles changed her life for the better since she married Prince Charles.

Prior to their wedding and before their relationship was made official, Levin said that Camilla didn’t have any interest in working full-time. The mom of two was just focused on having fun, partying, and reading her favorite books. But all this changed when she wed Prince Charles. And it’s evident that she also stepped up to the plate as a senior working royal.

“I think she has at the age of 57 when she married Prince Charles. It's absolutely astonishing that she could change her life so completely. But she has changed enormously for the better. And the more she's done in the world of charities, the more she wants to do,” Levin said (via Cornwall Live).

Camilla Parker-Bowles Not Ashamed To Get Involved With Controversial Charities

Levin also praised Camilla for getting involved with charities that are regarded as controversial. For instance, she has been supporting domestic abuse charities that other people might find shameful or difficult to back.

“She's done sexual assault and rape charity work and all those things that people find quite difficult. And she's done a lot of good. She's not somebody who just wants to cut a ribbon. She really wants to get involved,” Levin said.

Prince Charles, Camilla Parker-Bowles Proved That Their Marriage Is For Keeps To Queen Elizabeth

So, it wasn’t necessarily a shock when Queen Elizabeth expressed her wish for Camilla to be styled as queen consort when the time comes. After all, Camilla has been helping not only Prince Charles but the entire British monarchy.

Of course, Prince Charles also had a hand in helping Camilla find her place within the royal family and The Firm. According to Vanity Fair, the heir to the throne made it clear early on that Camilla is a non-negotiable part of his life.

“I don’t think the Prince was happy with the way things were but he couldn’t see a way of making it work. He’d been through a lot of bad times with the public, and I think he was probably nervous about putting himself back in a negative situation, damaging the monarchy, and he didn’t know whether he could persuade the queen to accept her. I think he thought all these things insurmountable, and he really didn’t know what to do. The prince is too diffident and nervous, and I think he was scared,” the source said.

But in the end, everyone embraced Camilla, and more royal fans have been warming up to her decades after she was accused of destroying Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage.
