Prince Charles Expressed Great Sadness Following Queen Mother’s Death
So, when Queen Mother died several years ago, Prince Charles gave her a touching tribute. Even though the dad of two is not one to always express his feeling, he previously said that Queen Mother meant everything to him.
“She was quite simply the most magical grandmother you could possibly have, and I was utterly devoted to her,” he said (via Express).
And just recently, Prince William’s dad was once again heard talking about the late royal. While at the Sandringham Flower Show in July, he was heard telling royal fans how much he misses his grandmother.
“I can't remember how many years I've been coming, but I used to come with my grandmother every year. I do miss her, I must say. But she'd be so pleased it keeps going,” Prince Charles said.

Queen Mother Convinced Prince Charles Not To Push Through With His Plans To Live In Tuscany
When Queen Mother was still alive, she was reportedly instrumental in making sure that her grandson wouldn’t commit the biggest mistake of his life.
According to royal historian Gareth Russell, Prince Charles wanted to work only as a part-time royal, and he considered relocating to Tuscany. But after his grandmother found out about his plans, she talked him out of it.
“She [the Queen Mother] decided to talk to Charles over dinner about Edward [VIII] and how she felt one of his big mistakes has been going to live abroad,” he said (via Express).
According to Russell, Edward VIII moved between France and Austria after he abdicated, and this is what Queen Mother talked to Prince Charles about. After their conversation, Prince Charles never considered relocating to Tuscany again.
“She [the Queen Mother] did, at one point, get a whisper that Prince Charles was considering going to live in Italy in the early 90s. He was really struggling with the press. He was very unpopular at that point. And the way she [the Queen Mother] phrased it, it became very clear to Charles that she was telling him: ‘Do not leave this country,’” he said.
Queen Mother died in 2002 at the age of 101. According to reports, she died in her sleep at the Royal Lodge, and the queen was by her bedside. Four months earlier, she suffered from a chest cold.
