Brie Larson Admits She Isn’t the Future of the MCU; Mentions the One Who Is

As Marvel Studios builds every MCU phase differently from the others that came before it, every MCU project tries to offer a different face that portrays the fan-favorite comic heroes. The studios are currently building the Young Avengers, but Brie Larson remains one of the youthful faces in Marvel, as she was also one of the actors who got to star in a top-billed MCU movie before turning 30.

Larson was 29 years old when Captain Marvel was released. Her next featured film, The Marvels, has been pushed back to a November release; by then, the Academy Award winner will be 34, and she has all the time in the world to star in many more MCU projects like the others who started young then grew old in the MCU. But in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress named the person she believes is the future of the MCU.

“Iman [Vellani] is the future. She is the perfect Ms. Marvel and the most incredible person and castmate. I’m so excited about her success and I’m so excited to see what she will do with her life because she can do anything she wants. She’s one of my favorite people on this earth. A huge part of why I wanted to play Captain Marvel was because of Ms. Marvel and what that meant. To see that character realized by such a brilliant human with so much potential is just a really exciting thing.” explained Larson.

In 2016, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige said that Larson as Captain Marvel is their strongest superhero yet, which hints that they might have plans to keep the Room star for many years to come. “Captain Marvel, she is as powerful a character as we’ve ever put in a movie,” he said to Vulture. “Her powers are off the charts, and when she’s introduced, she will be by far the strongest character we’ve ever had.”

The Marvels will premiere in theaters on November 10, 2023.
