Elizabeth Olsen Addresses Scarlet Witch's Future in the MCU

Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch has been a complete delight and a massively immersive experience for superhero fans. Olsen’s fan-favorite anti-hero has been away from the MCU spotlight for almost a year now, last appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Despite her mini-sitcom, Wandavision, that the actress took part in in 2021, a Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch solo movie has been long teased and long anticipated by MCU diehards. Now, the Love and Death star has finally teased the future awaiting her character and given fans a glimmer of hope.

During a recent appearance at Kuwait’s Comfest Con, Olsen answered a fan's query about what storyline she would like to take on for Wanda. “Well, honestly, if I were to tell you exactly what I would want, I think I would be spoiling something. Because Kevin Feige genuinely asks us what we want to do with the character and then he does it. So… I don’t know if I can share, but I just want to come back!” she emphasized.

In her past interview with Variety, Olsen shared a tidbit of plot that she would like to explore: if the Scarlet Witch is to return. She noted that she wants her hero to be able to redeem herself in some way after endangering the entire multiverse in her quest to reunite her family. “Wanda is heading, hopefully, towards some sort of redemption. I don't think any of these characters are ever really gone. Especially that you introduce the Multiverse to multiply all of our bodies and other universes,” said the actress.

She continued, “Something that playing Wanda has taught me over how many years is how many things and opportunities you can do with one character. Kind of breaks a feeling of limitations to be with a character for so long and continues to change the narrative of how this character is used to tell a story. That kind of opens up how you think about how we can approach character and storytelling in challenging ways, hopefully.”

Whenever and wherever Olsen decides to pop up in upcoming MCU projects, one thing is for sure: her fans will patiently wait and greet her with pride when she comes back on screen.

WandaVision is streaming on Disney+.
