There is little doubt that Shuri is the new protector of Wakanda after the events in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. But when will the new Black Panther return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Letitia Wright has addressed her future in the MCU.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Shuri dealt with the death of her brother and mother as well as the threat of Namor. The film concluded with the new Black Panther meeting T'challa's son who was born before his passing.

So does this mean that Shuri is set to work with her nephew in the future? Letitia Wright revealed to Comicbook.com that she hasn't heard from Marvel Studios yet.

"No, I haven't," she said. "I will know as soon as you know."

It's not exactly a promising update but fans haven't given up on hope that there will be a Black Panther 3 despite Chadwick Boseman's untimely death.

Interestingly, Letitia Wright had previously confirmed that Shuri was meant to become Black Panther even before Boseman's passing.

"Shuri was always gonna do it," she confirmed.

"But it was gonna be done in a different way where her brother was gonna be alongside her, really explore that, like the comic books, the ways that T'Challa and Shuri would be Black Panther alongside each other and try to figure out how to defend their nation," Wright continued.

Sadly, that's not what happened in the second Black Panther film. Instead, Shuri becomes the new Black Panther after T'Challa's death. Now that she has a bigger role to play, Shuri is expected to make other appearances in future team-up movies from the Multiverse Saga.

Despite no confirmation yet from the studios, Black Panther 3 is expected, although fans might have to wait a little while given that there's no room for the project yet, especially with the other MCU projects that are slated for release to follow the timeline.
