The Chronological Movie Order of Star Wars

If you prefer to watch all the films in the order of the events and live the story of the characters in an intimate way as to how everything has happened, this is your movie order. But this order has a downside, this way, one of the best and most iconic scenes to ever grace the cinemas, the reveal of Luke's parentage will shock you a little too early.

The Theatrical Movie Order of Star Wars

This is your go-to list if you prefer watching the Star Wars Saga the old-fashioned way by experiencing the way they did it from 1977 where they had to wait for years before the release of the next chapter of the saga, but now it is available for you to put the old-fashioned way to the test. This might be confusing especially to those who are new to Star Wars considering the time jump in between the movies.

"The Godfather" order of Star Wars

This order allows you to watch the original two Star Wars films, the shock reveals given by the ending of Empire Strikes Back, then back to the prequel trilogy giving Anakin's background. Then after the Revenge of the Sith, you proceed with Return of the Jedi to make way for the Vade-Luke clash with no disruptions to the big twists. However, with this order, it would be difficult to fit in the new films and series.

The Machete Order of Star Wars

Sans The Phantom Menace, the Machete order removes the "I am your father" moment. This order will make you enjoy the Saga before the Darth Vader backstory.

The Rinster Order of Star Wars or the Skywalker Order

This is based on the list of Star Wars superfan, Ernest Rinster who created his own order of the movies to preserve the twist of Luke's father but still including The Phantom Menace, leaving out the sequels. With this, you'll get to follow the story with the focus on Luke Skywalker where you get to know about his lineage.
