After the successful release of the zombie epic of Zack Snyder on Netflix, the much-anticipated sequel of the film, Army of the Dead 2, is now confirmed to be in development on top of the prequel already in the works. With the cliffhanger ending of the first film, many fans are excited that the continuation of the story is already underway.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the director of the films, Zack Snyder is officially set to begin to work on Army of the Dead 2. Stone Quarry Productions of Snyder already signed the first-look film deal with the streaming giant, Netflix, and he said, "My goal and hope are to bring as much quality content as I can and do it on a giant scale. Big projects and big movies."
Army of Thieves, the prequel of the film, is already under production and it is expected that it will be released later this year. It will be co-written by Shay Hatten and it will be focusing on Ludwig Dieter from the first movie and it is said to hold the answers for the sequel. The actor playing Ludwig, Matthias Schweighöefer, will also be co-directing along with Snyder.
As for Army of the Dead 2, it is expected to pick up where the first film left after the heist at the casino in the middle of a zombie plagued Las Vegas went wrong. With the movie already in the works, who knows what more Snyder and Hatten could inject in the story considering that the lone survivor of the team is a possible and potential threat to yet another big city.
Army of the Dead 2 has no official release date yet but it will be released on Netflix.
