Army of the Dead: Samantha Win Compares Netflix Movie to Zack Snyder's Justice League

Fans of Zack Snyder may have noticed that he tends to collaborate with certain actors. For instance, the filmmaker had cast Samantha Win in Man of Steel before giving her the role of Chambers in Army of the Dead. But how different was it to work on Zack Snyder's Justice League compared to the Netflix movie?

Win played the Amazon warrior Euboea in Wonder Woman before reprising the role in Justice League as well as the Snyder Cut. She would go on to work with Snyder again in Army of the Dead, which the filmmaker had proudly declared as a project that gave him all the creative freedom. Not surprisingly, Win echoes Snyder's sentiments to Screenrant when comparing the working environment on Justice League with the Netflix film.

"You could definitely feel an air of creative freedom on the set. So I think that the inkling you had was correct in that, you know before you'd hear whispers of 'oh, we can't do this, oh they said we can't do that, we can't do this,' or 'oh, no this part will likely need to be cut down.' But none of those talks were being had on the set while we were on Army," Win said.

She continued by confirming that Snyder was more at ease while working on Army of the Dead.

"I feel like Zack got to create and play and shoot what he wanted and then creative decisions what happened later based on what he and Debbie [Snyder] and everyone liked for the film, but it wasn't as restrictive as he felt with his previous films," Win said.

"So I think that and then also the pressure of, I'm sure, the DC Universe and already established characters and an already established fan base having certain expectations versus an original film where he's the creator and he's the director and he's the DP and he was even the camera operator, oh, so I'm sure on his side he was having that creative freedom and it was very much felt by us on set," she concluded.

There is little doubt that Snyder truly enjoyed working on Army of the Dead considering that he was allowed to do whatever he wanted with the film. After all, this is something he was not able to do with his DC Extended Universe movies until the release of the Snyder Cut. Needless to say, we're hoping Snyder gets to continue getting creative freedom with all his projects.

Army of the Dead is now streaming on Netflix.
