Ant-Man Star Potentially Dropped From Quantumania After Sexual Assault Allegations

Marvel fans have long considered Ant-Man as one the MCU's most underrated characters deserving of his own trilogy so it came as a pleasant surprise when Marvel Studios finally confirmed that a third film is happening. Titled Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, the sequel will mark the debut of the franchise's next big villain Kang the Conqueror.

Not only that, but Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne will also gain themselves a new ally in the form of Cassie Lang who will take on the mantle of Stature/Stinger. As it stands, we still don't know which side characters could return for the project but unfortunately, a member of the X-Con Security Consultants won't be making a comeback.

American rapper T.I., who played Dave in the first two Ant-Man films won't be returning to reprise his role alongside Kurt (David Dastmalchian) and Luis (Michael Peña). The Hollywood Reporter notes that T.I. is currently facing accusations of sexual assault from multiple women. His wife Tiny also happens to be involved in the scandal.

While it hasn't been confirmed yet whether he was dropped from the project due to the allegations, it's worth noting that Disney recently fired The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano for her social media behavior. Considering Marvel Studios is deemed as a family-friendly company, T.I. being dropped from the sequel due to the said scandal wouldn't be too farfetched to believe.

Now, what could this new development mean for the future of X-Con? Sure, they're treated as minor characters in the franchise but they've gained a strong following amongst fans. I'm guessing Marvel Studios would end up recasting Dave to keep the trio together but there's also a chance that the character could be written off entirely. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania will hit cinemas in 2022.
