Andor Star Reveals She Almost Got A Star Wars Tattoo

For Hollywood actors, there’s nothing more thrilling than getting cast in one of the most popular franchises in the world, like Star Wars. Because tattoos are associated with permanence, Adria Arjona, who plays Bix Caleen in Andor, shared that she almost inked something Star Wars-related on her skin because she was so enthusiastic to land a role in the intergalactic universe.

In an interview with Radio Times, Arjona revealed she freaked out over joining a Star Wars show, especially after gearing up in Bix’s outfit for the first time. “I have never taken as many selfies in my life as when I tried on the costume! It got me feeling just how badass this character was,” Then she confessed, “I even considered getting her name tattooed on me but then Tony [Gilroy, the showrunner] intervened and said, 'Yeah, maybe don't do that until the trailer comes out' — and I haven't had the opportunity to do it since.”

On the industrial planet Ferrix, Bix works as a mechanic. She is a childhood friend of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and a professional acquaintance of Rebel Alliance soldier Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård). Following Cassian and Luthen's off-world escape, Bix's connection to both men results in her being captured and interrogated for their whereabouts by ISB agent Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) after the Galactic Empire controls her planet.

Despite the fact that Cassian successfully saved her in the season finale, they parted ways again. Cassian's allies took Bix away from Ferrix as he persuaded Luthen to completely recruit him as a Rebellion agent. According to the actress, she has no idea what's going to happen between Bix and Cassian—if they will pursue a romantic relationship or just settle for a platonic one.

Given Arjona's rise to fame, the True Detective star was said to have signed a deal ensuring her future appearances in Lucasfilm's Star Wars universe. Industry scooper Daniel Richtman previously revealed on his Patreon that fans can expect more of Bix on screen. He wrote, “Adria Arjona signed a contract to appear in other projects as well as an option of getting her own show,”

In 2022, the Irma Vep actress first talked about her relationship with the Star Wars movies, noting that she’s a big fan of the films but never had the chance to watch them in order before she was cast as Bix in Andor. “I was a fan, I loved the movies. I had never watched them chronologically, so I was a little bit lost with the known timelines. I didn't quite understand a lot of what was going on, but I certainly loved the world and all I wanted to do was be a part of it.” she narrated.

Arjona continued, “Then finally, I got this role and I just decided to do my homework and I watched it all chronologically. It felt important to me to sort of know where I lived in the time and in space. But then the more I read the scripts, the more I realized you don't really have to watch any of the movies to sort of understand and appreciate the show. I mean, it's amazing if you do, but if you don't, it still stands on its own.”
