Amber Heard lost a defamation suit filed by her former husband Johnny Depp after a jury found that the Aquaman actress had defamed the Pirates of the Caribbean star in saying Johnny had abused her over the course of their romance. Johnny sued for $50 million in damages over a 2018 opinion-editorial essay by Amber in The Washington Post, in which she said she had become a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”
Though the said essay did not mention Johnny Depp by name, his lawyers stated it indirectly referred to allegations Amber Heard made against him during their 2016 divorce. The jury unanimously found that the London Fields star could not substantiate her allegations against Johnny Depp and that she knew her claims of abuse were false when she published her essay four years ago.

Ultimately, according to Globe, the jury did not buy Amber Heard’s poor-me story – and neither have millions on social media who accused her of lying and shedding fake crocodile tears. They also underscored how Amber never made good on her famous vow to donate the $7 million she got from her 2016 divorce from Johnny.
Amber Heard previously testified that her checks to the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles were on hold due to staggering legal fees, but that she would follow through someday. Sources claimed Johnny Depp’s ex is getting a free ride from a home insurance policy that covered her court costs.
A Travelers Vice President Pamela Johnson was snapped squiring Amber around at the trial, as per Globe. Pennsylvania trial attorney Heather Heidelbaugh, reportedly, said:
“It’s a little oddity that most people don’t know. In most homeowner insurance policies, there is coverage if you are sued for defamation.”
