Alice in Borderland Star Returns in Kingdom Film Sequel


It has been a while since we got to see Kento Yamazaki in action. However, it looks like the Alice in Borderland star is currently busy with a new project. Yamazaki has been hard at work on the live-action sequel to 2019's Kingdom, as confirmed in an awesome new image!

The new still from Kingdom II: To Distant Lands was shared by the film's official website and features Yamazaki's Shin and four new cast members who will be joining the sequel. The new actors include Amane Okayama as Bi Hei, Takahiro Miura as, Bito, and Takayuki Hamatsu as Taku Kei. The mysterious character whose face is covered is Kyokai, who will be played by Nana Seino. Back in January, it was announced that the live-action adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara's manga will be getting a sequel. The announcement came with a teaser that offered a brief glimpse at Kyokai although her face remained covered. Luckily, another still from Kingdom II features Seino's character without her mask. There is little doubt that fans are already hyped up for the sequel and some believe that Yamazaki has been working on the film, prompting the delay of Alice in Borderland Season 2. However, there is a good chance that Yamazaki will begin working on the second season of the Netflix series soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Kingdom follows Shin, a young slave who dreams of becoming a general serving the king's army. When his fellow slave Hyo is taken away and killed while protecting the king, Shin goes after Ei Sei and discovers his own destiny.

Kingdom II: To Distant Lands is directed by Shinsuke Sato who previously worked on the 2019 movie. The sequel will also bring back Tokyo Revengers star Ryo Yoshizawa as Ei Sei (Ying Zheng), the future first emperor of the unified China. The film has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to premiere in Japan in Summer 2022.
