There is little doubt that fans have been hoping there would be more episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. However, there haven't been any updates on a possible Season 2 for the Marvel Cinematic Universe series. On the other hand, Marvel Studios may have confirmed that the show will be getting a second season.
We already know that WandaVision is being submitted for the Best Limited Series award at this year's Emmys. However, it looks like there are different plans for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Executive producer and Marvel Studios VP of Production and Development Nate More has confirmed with IndieWire that the show is being submitted for the Best Drama category.
Now there's nothing unusual about that. However, it's interesting that the show is being submitted for Best Drama instead of Limited Series. That could mean that Marvel views the show as a regular series that could get a second or maybe even a third season.
So can we expect Marvel to announce the second season soon? Moore himself pointed out that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 2 has not yet been confirmed. However, he did tease that it could be decided in the next few weeks.
"We've definitely kicked around ideas because we always like to keep thinking about where things can go, but we also, frankly, in the crush of the pandemic, we're just trying to finish the show and make sure it got out in a timely matter," Moore said. "Hopefully at the end of this season, you will see the potential for what we could tell in a subsequent season."
Well, now we're getting our hopes up. It would be wonderful to get The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 2. It would also be amazing if the series gets nominated and actually wins the award. But for now, we wait for the series finale.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 6 premieres on Disney+ on April 23.
