James Gunn Addresses The Suicide Squad Spin-Off Focusing on Bloodsport

We already know that The Suicide Squad is getting a spin-off series that will focus on Peacemaker. But is it possible that another show is already in the works? There have been speculations that a project featuring Bloodsport is in development. These reports have reached director James Gunn who finally addressed the possibility.

The Peacemaker series was announced in September last year and the first season is expected to have eight episodes. However, fans believe that John Cena's character isn't the only Suicide Squad character who will get his own standalone project. There are also reports of Idris Elba starring in his own show that will be all about Bloodsport.

So is it true? A fan had reached out to Gunn in hoping to get a confirmation about the Bloodsport series. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director then retweeted the post along with an explanation.

"There is a possibility of seeing more #Bloodsport in the near future - something I'd love to see! - but there is nothing currently in development. So this story is false," Gunn wrote.

It's disappointing to learn the truth but we're also loving the idea that Gunn has plans for Elba's character in the future. For now, we'll have to settle with that thought and hope that Gunn will develop a show for Bloodsport soon.

While we are waiting for a Bloodsport series, Gunn has admitted that he is hoping Peacemaker will be renewed for the second season. In the meantime, the first season will premiere on HBO Max in January 2022.
