Did The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 5 Finally Introduce Power Broker?

The identity of Power Broker has been something that fans couldn't stop speculating about since the character's existence was hinted at in the premiere episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. But is it possible that Episode 5 finally introduced the character? There are speculations that Power Broker has debuted in Truth.

WATCH OUT! The following features SPOILERS from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 5! Proceed with caution!

In Truth, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes ultimately took back the Captain America shield from John Walker. Since Walker didn't want to hand it over, this led to a fight that left Walker with a broken arm. However, this isn't the only thing that happened to Walker in the episode.

After having his ass handed to him, Walker received a dishonorable discharge for killing a Flag-Smasher in the previous episode. He was also stripped of the role of Captain America. But despite everything that happened to him, Walker found himself a new ally.

Shortly after being discharged, Walker is approached by a woman who introduces herself as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. She then tells him that he didn't do anything wrong by killing the Flag-Smasher and that he was right in taking the Super Soldier serum. Moreover, losing the shield isn't even a huge problem in her point of view.

It's interesting to note that the Contessa supports Walker using the Super Soldier serum. Could it be because she had a part in its creation? Some fans believe that the Contessa might actually be the Power Broker and it could make sense considering her comic book origins.

In the comics, the Contessa works for several different agencies including Leviathan, which is led by Magadan. At one point, the Contessa (under the name Madame Hydra) helps Magadan figure out a way to make superpowered warriors and that sounds pretty close to what's happening in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

So is the Contessa actually Power Broker? That has yet to be confirmed so it's best to take this with a grain of salt. However, there is little doubt that Julia Louis-Dreyfus could play a larger role in the MCU after her appearance in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 5.

Power Broker was initially hinted at in the credits scene of the premiere episode and has since been confirmed to be a major player in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Since then, people have suspected that Sharon Carter might actually be the mysterious character. Hopefully, their identity will finally be revealed in the series finale.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 5 is now streaming on Disney+.
