The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 5 Recap: Sam and Wilson Face the Truth

The penultimate episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is finally out and we got to see some interesting developments in the series. In Episode 5, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes made a huge decision that could change everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 5. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

The fifth episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is titled Truth and that's exactly what everybody had to deal with. Sam and Bucky decided it was time to confront John Walker and take back the Captain America shield from him after he used it to kill a Flag-Smasher in the previous episode.

Naturally, John wasn't ready to give up the shield. This leads to an epic fight that leaves Walker with a broken arm. Sadly, it also destroys Sam's wingsuit but at least he and Bucky have the shield.

Meanwhile, it is revealed that Baron Zemo had escaped to Sokovia but Bucky tracks him down and hands him over to the Dora Milaje. However, Zemo assures Bucky he has accepted his fate and isn't holding a grudge against him and Sam.

While this is all happening, Walker gets a dishonorable discharge and will no longer be known as Captain America. But it's not the end for him just yet. He is approached by Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine who supports him. It is also important to add that the mysterious character is played by none other than the magnificent Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Sam decides to leave his damaged wingsuit with Joaquin Torres, which might be a little tease at the next Falcon. He then heads back to Baltimore to sit down with Isaiah Bradley, who finally tells him about everything that happened in the past, including the truth about Bradley's imprisonment.

Ultimately, Sam and Bucky head for Louisiana to help fix Sam's sister's boat and they even do some training with the shield. The duo then decides it's time to leave the past behind and work together for a better future.

It would have been nice if The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 5 ended this way but we're not going to forget about the Flag-Smashers. Interestingly, the group is planning an attack on the GRC, and this time, they are joined by Georges Batroc, who has been released from prison by ... Sharon Carter.

But wait, there's even more! We get a mid-credits scene in this episode and it focuses on Walker as he creates his own shield from his war medals and some scrap metal. Needless to say, we're going to see him in action again soon.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 5 has been the longest episode in the series so far. However, there is little doubt that the best is yet to come.

The fifth episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is titled Truth. It is now streaming on Disney+.
