Amazon's The Lord of the Rings Series Gets Release Date and First Look Image

One of the most ambitious takes of Amazon Studios' when it comes to an original series would be The Lord of the Rings where they would be taking everyone back to Middle-Earth and they proudly announced that the show now has a release date just after they finished filming. They also dropped a first look image on what to expect on the much-awaited series.

Amazon announced in a press release that the billion-dollar TV series of The Lord of the Rings will be arriving on Amazon Prime in the fall of 2022. After almost 18 months of working tirelessly on the production in New Zealand, they finally enter the post-production stage which would take more than a year to add VFX and complete the whole show.

They also dropped the first official photo of what they consider as the biggest television series about to grace the screens from the showrunners, J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. To say it in a few words, it is breathtaking! The place is stunning and to see Middle-Earth once more and like that, you'd definitely gasp in awe! Amazon Studios really nailed it in just one photo.

In the same press release, they also revealed that the new show will be arriving on Amazon Prime where it would be available to more than 240 countries around the globe. That wide reach would really prove how this series would be one of the biggest television shows in history including the staggering price tag of the production.

The epic drama will be taking everyone back to Middle-Earth based on the history of the Second Age from none other than J.R.R. Tolkien's writings. The events would be bringing us back to thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and characters, both old and new, would be facing a long-feared evil arriving back to the place.

The amazing ensemble includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Maxim Baldry, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Sir Lenny Henry, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Dylan Smith, Joseph Mawle, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, Sara Zwangobani, and Megan Richards. It would be directed by Charlotte Brändström.

As teased by Payne and McKay, they said, "As Bilbo says, ‘Now I think I am quite ready to go on another journey.' Living and breathing Middle-earth these many months has been the adventure of a lifetime. We cannot wait for fans to have the chance to do so as well."

Amazon's The Lord of the Rings series will be out exclusively on September 22, 2022.
