That Time I Got Reincarnated a SlimeSeason 2 Episode 12 is bound to be one of the most intriguing so far. Rimuru might have managed to go through with his plan, but his adventures are far from over. The first cour of season 2 is wrapping up and Rimuru is changing. Here's all you need to know about the Isekai fantasy anime before Episode 12, the finale of the first cour:

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Overview and Episode 11 Recap

In That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime we follow a man in his late thirties who is murdered, then gets reincarnated from a relatively purposeless, mundane life into a fantastic one, where he can have adventures he had never imagined. The only setback is explained in the title: he is now a slime.

In his new, magical world, however, this form is far from a curse. Rimuru Tempest, as our hero comes to be called, is extremely powerful. Using a spell called "Gluttony," he can devour anything and assume its form. On his way to prove his worth, he makes many friends and allies, and his well-being is one of his most important motivations.

Episode 11, titled "Birth of a Demon Lord," is just what the title describes. After wiping out the entire Falmuth army and absorbing their souls, Rimuru succeeds in becoming a demon lord. The trial of evolution leaves him exhausted, but ends up working, despite worries for the opposite. His bond with his subjects intensifies, and he now has powers beyond imagination.

The battle outcome has been decided and Tempest is victorious this time. At first, it looks like Rimuru will fail to resurrect Shion and his other fallen friends, as there is not enough energy to make their souls regenerate. However, Rimuru is helped by an Archdemon, who is now his subject and provides him with sacrifices, so the episode ends with a restored Shion waking up.

Rimuru's friends are happy that they are now safe, but worries that Rimuru will change too drastically aren't completely unfounded. Sure, he did what he did with his subjects' interests in mind, but slaying an entire army is still too much for a person to shoulder - and it definitely happened partly for revenge, as killing so many can never happen with pure motivations. Already, Rimuru seems colder, and it remains to be seen if this is going to be a long-term change.
