Kemono Jihen Overview and Episode 11 Recap
In Kemono Jihen, the main character Kabane is a half-ghoul taken in by Inugami, a detective specializing in the occult. Moving in with Inugami in Tokyo, Kabane meets and befriends the detective's other young proteges, Akira and Shiki. All boys and Inugami himself are Kemono - human-beast hybrids who are often tasked with keeping the peace between humans and supernatural beings.
Warning: If you haven't watched Kemono Jihen Episode 11 you might want to skip to the next section as there will be spoilers below.
Episode 11 continues to adapt the Akira Arc of the Kemono Jihenmanga. When Akira's twin, Yui, freezes Kabane, Shiki, and Inugami, Akira understands there is something sinister going on about the boy who used to be his only family.
In a flashback, he finds out that Yui was made the village chief, but was constantly abused by the villagers, their jealousies, and pettiness. He didn't want this to happen to Akira, whom he deemed the only pure thing in his life so he sent his brother away.
As Yui and Akira were important members of the tribe, Yui threatened that he would kill himself if the villagers didn't let Akira go. While they promise that, they don't promise to follow him later, as Yui finds out. Eventually, Yui decides the village is a lost cause, destroying it by taking its stone - a frozen equivalent of the one Kabane uses to keep his ghoul hunger at bay. This partly explains his troubling behavior.
Akira understands that he must act on his own, more cleverly than he ever has done before, if he's to save his friends. When Kabane unfreezes due to his restorative abilities, Akira almost manages to persuade him that he wants nothing to do with him anymore and only wants to be with his brother.
Yui appears too strong, even for our strongest characters, and things look grim. We can only hope for a resolution like the one of Shiki's arc. Will we get it in the finale?
Kemono Jihen Anime Episode 12 Release Date
Kemono Jihen airs every Sunday. Episode 12, titled "Kemono Incidents" - as is the name of the show in English - is going to be broadcast next Sunday on March 28 for premium Funimation users.
Those streaming without a subscription will be able to watch Episode 11 on that day but will have to wait until the 28th of Match to watch Episode 12.
It had been suggested that Kemono Jihen Episode 11 would wrap up the Akira arc, but now it looks like it'll stretch until the next episode.
