New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 5 will shed more light on Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) and Lynn's (Francie Turner) affair and its repercussions on their careers.
In New Amsterdam Season 3, Reynolds and Lynn's complicated love story began.
Even though Lyn is technically allowed to date other people because she's in an open marriage, she never acted on this agreement with her husband, Dr. Claude Baptiste (Andre Blake) – that is, until she met Reynolds.
The chemistry between the two characters was palpable, so it didn't take long before they started hooking up.
Before New Amsterdam Season 4 premiered, executive producer and director Peter Horton explained their decision to further explore Reynolds and Lynn's relationship.
"We live in a world where storytelling in film and television is so much about relationships, about longing. So much of our storytelling is about love stories. We already did Reynolds falling in love with Evie [Margot Bingham] and being engaged and all of that stuff," he told TV Insider.
Horton also said that the situation between the two characters challenged them to answer all the questions that may arise in New Amsterdam Season 4.
"What's it like if you have someone who's agreed with their husband to have an open marriage, but has never done anything about it before and is ambivalent herself, and yet she's really drawn to Reynolds? And here's Reynolds, who has this idea of what he wants for marriage and life but is magnetized by this woman and he can't let her go. How does that work? Where does that go?" he asked.
How Will Reynolds, Lynn's Affair Affect Their Careers?
In the trailer for New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 5 titled This Be the Verse, Reynolds and Lynn are hooking up at the hospital.
In the next scene, Reynolds is gearing up for his next extensive surgery when one of the nurses informs him that he has been replaced.
Reynolds tells Lynn about what the nurse told him. And he's certain that Lynn's husband knows about their affair.
At first, Lynn seems doubtful about her husband knowing about her affair with Reynolds. But it didn't take her very long to realize that it was a possibility.
As of late, it's unclear how many more surgeries Reynolds will lose because of his ties with Lynn. And it's possible that he could eventually lose his position as the deputy chair of surgery.
Max, Veronica Will Continue To Disagree In New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 5
In the trailer for New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 5, Veronica (Michelle Forbes) and Max (Ryan Eggold) are butting heads again.
Max tells his former mentor that they take care of their patients at the hospital. However, Veronica reminds him that it's not her job to take care of other people.
Instead, she was hired to take over Max's position as the latter started his new life with Helen (Freema Agyeman) in London.
However, Max and Helen are still working at the hospital, and they might never leave. So, it's unclear whether or not Veronica will continue to work there with them.
While speaking with TV Insider, Forbes teased what's in store for her character and Max in the upcoming episodes.
"She's there to do a job. She's there to turn this hospital around so that it can survive financially. That's what she does. That's what's in her blood. And she's very good at it. Every week is basically her trying to steer the hospital into a different direction than the path that Max has been on," she said.
Forbes also said that regardless of what Max and Helen do, their decision won't impact her role at the hospital.
This statement suggests that Veronica won't go anywhere, regardless of whether Max and Helen stay or leave for London.
