The 16-second trailer opens with Max and Helen are canoodling in bed before the former's daughter appears at the door.

While Max is busy tending to his daughter, Helen is observing them while sitting on the bed. The expression on her face shows that she's not pleased.

Elsewhere, Helen and Karen (Debra Monk) are having a conversation. The latter tells Helen that there are several reasons why she and Max shouldn't be together.

Helen tells Karen that everything just feels so out of control between her and Max. And Karen says that this is because Helen knows deep down that it's a mistake to be with Max.

Helen seems to be contemplating the future of her relationship with Max.

However, there's also hope for Max and Helen to be together – at least until the end of Season 4. After all, showrunner David Schulner previously told TV Line that the entire season is all about chasing happiness wherever it can be found.

He also said that the upcoming episodes for New Amsterdam Season 4 are "about the people we love and holding them close and never wanting to let them go – and potentially running after them."
