NBC just dropped the synopsis for New Amsterdam Season Episode 4 titled, Seed Money.

"Max struggles with a new fiscal reality at the hospital. Dr. Sharpe is on a mission to provide follow-up cancer screenings for patients before it's too late. Bloom grapples with Dr. Shinwari's new overnight schedule. Reynolds has an interesting conversation with Dr. Malvo about their future," the synopsis reads.

How Will Veronica's Arrival Encourage Max To Stay?

In New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 3, Max expressed his desire to leave the institution. However, Veronica's arrival could be the one thing that would make him stay.

Since Max doesn't want Veronica to lead the hospital or to make huge changes that could jeopardize their progress, the only way he could stop her is if he stays.

While speaking with TV Insider, executive producer David Schulner said that Veronica's arrival will make it difficult for Max to leave.

"She and Max have a history together and she's the opposite of New Amsterdam. No one believes Max as he tries to convince everyone that she's the absolute wrong person for the job. Then slowly we start revealing why she's the absolute wrong person for the job, which makes Max leaving New Amsterdam even more difficult, knowing he's leaving it in the hands of his opponents as opposed to someone like Dr. Wilder," he said.

Schulner also explained Karen's decision to hire Veronica. He said that Karen decided to hire one of the best in the field after learning that Max had plans to quit New Amsterdam.

So, even if Max told Karen that Veronica is not to be trusted, there's not much that she could do because she already hired the newbie.

How Will Max And Helen's Relationship Play Out In New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 4?

Fans can also expect to see more of Max and Helen's struggles in New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 4.

After three seasons, fans of the medical drama are finally witnessing how Max and Helen are like as a couple. But there are fears that their relationship won't last until the end of the season.

First, Helen continues to self-sabotage her relationship with Max. And she tends to overthink things about her partner.

In New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 3, Max and Helen agreed that they would move in together. Even though this could pose challenges in their relationship, it could help the couple prepare for their new life in London.

Unfortunately, it seems that Max and Helen will never make it to London because of Veronica. And this decision to not move elsewhere will definitely affect Max and Helen's relationship negatively.

NBC also dropped the official trailer for New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 4 this week.

The 31-second clip opens with Karen (Debra Monk) introducing Veronica, the new medical director, to all the residents.

Veronica sees Max, and she tells Karen that she and the lead character go way back.

In one of the scenes, Max tries to convince Karen that she made the wrong decision of hiring Veronica. He tells her that Veronica is the worst person for the job because she's ruthless and financially motivated.

To make things worse, Max knows deep in his heart that Veronica completely lacks the New Amsterdam spirit.

Unfortunately, Karen doesn't budge. So, in the next scene, Veronica seemingly threatens Max. She tells him that she would undo every single program at the hospital, as well as every single that Max built there.

Max tells Veronica that he will never sign off on the changes that she wants to do.

Based on this trailer alone, audiences can already expect to see tensions between Max and Veronica in New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 4.

When Will New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 4 Air?

New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 4 will air on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.

As of late, NBC has not yet confirmed the total number of episodes of New Amsterdam Season 4. But it will most likely be around 14 to 22 episodes.

After all, New Amsterdam Season 1 had a total of 22 episodes, while New Amsterdam Season 2 had 18 episodes.

New Amsterdam Season 3 only had 14 episodes due to the delays brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Is New Amsterdam Season 5 Confirmed?

Even though Max has had some health issues, it seems that he would continue to live at least until New Amsterdam Season 5.

Earlier this year, NBC announced that the hit medical drama has been renewed until Season 5. This means that fans will be able to see their favorite characters on TV at least until 2023.
