It's quite evident that John Cena had the time of his life playing Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad, so much so that James Gunn revealed back in April while they were working on HBO Max's standalone Peacemaker series that the WWE megastar took one of the costumes home just to see what it was like taking a nap while wearing it.

Since then, it has become a running joke and Cena even wore the suit during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Cena recently made his jaw-dropping WWE return and on his second night back, the 16-time WWE champion teased that he just might wear his Peacemaker costume at the upcoming premiere of The Suicide Squad.

However, Gunn is having none of it and rejected Cena's plans. In a recent tweet, the Guardians of the Galaxy director said that the F9 star needs to be stopped, or else the outfit will be worn out by the time they start filming Peacemaker Season 2.

It's pretty obvious that Gunn is extremely high on John Cena and the fact that Peacemaker got his own series before any of the "established" Suicide Squad characters says a lot. A little too early to tell for sure but I'm expecting him to become a major player in the DC Extended Universe moving forward and as a huge Cena fan, I'm all here for it.
The Suicide Squad is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on August 5, 2021. It will also be available on the same day on HBO Max.
