With Warner Bros. Pictures' decision to put Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max coinciding with its theatrical release, Marvel fans have been asking if Marvel Studios will follow suit and release Black Widow via Disney's popular streaming service. The House of Mouse previously dismissed rumors that they'll put the Scarlett Johansson-led film on Disney+ and they're pretty adamant about it getting released in cinemas. However, a leaked video hyping up the streaming service's upcoming content seems to tell otherwise.

A new promotional video (via Den of Geek) has been making the rounds all over the internet and according to the clip, Black Widow will get the same treatment as Mulan and will be released via Disney+'s Premier Access on April 16, 2021. Of course, take everything with a grain of salt but I have to say, the video looks pretty convincing and in my view, there's no doubt that it indeed came from Disney+. Check it out here:

If Wonder Woman 1984's risky streaming venture proves to be a success, then expect Black Widow to follow the same route. After all, we still don't know when this COVID-19 situation subsides and it's not like moviegoers are ready to hit cinemas anytime soon. Also, prolonging Black Widow's release will hurt the MCU's current timeline for Phase 4 and I'm pretty sure that's the last thing they'd want to happen. For now, let's just wait for the official announcement.

As it stands, Black Widow is still slated for a May 2021 theatrical release.
