Great news, Fantasy fans! With the recent resurgence of Dungeons & Dragons-related brands, Hasbro is now in its early stages of developing a Dungeons & Dragons television series. CEO Brian Goldner confirmed the exciting development in a recent earnings conference and aside from the upcoming live-action film which is set for release in 2022, a television show which could potentially tie directly into the film is also in the works.

Goldner shared the massive announcement (via ComicBook.com) during Hasbro's quarterly earnings call, saying that fans and potential broadcasters are totally behind the new project. "[The team is] also working on a couple of different approaches, because there is so much mythology in Canon to - Dungeons & Dragons for live-action television." He added: "And there's been very strong interest. We've talked about how many global streamers and terrestrial broadcasters have been very interested in Dungeons & Dragons."

It's looking real evident that Hasbro wants to ride the wave of momentum of other fantasy titles like The Witcher, Game of Thrones, and the forthcoming Lord of the Rings series who have all been their generating their respective buzzes. I mean, why the heck not, right? Let's not kid ourselves, Dungeons & Dragons is still a hot commodity in the world of fantasy and gaming. And with the recent spike in popularity of other fantasy-related films and television shows, it's only natural for them to give the D&D universe some much-needed expansion. It's about damn time.
