While collab cafes are typically held to promote new shows, a new collaboration was announced featuring an iconic anime series. Recently, GiGO announced a Yu Yu Hakusho collab cafe that will open for a limited time this September.
The new cafe was announced on the GiGO Collab Cafe website. There, details about the special menu, merchandise, and dates were revealed.
The highlight of the collab is the special menu which features themed food and drinks. This collab cafe will feature two menu batches, with the first featuring a Raizen and Yusuke beef curry rice dish, as well as Koenma’s ramen.
The second menu batch will feature a Kuwabara-inspired bowl of ramen along with a Khao Man Gai chicken dish inspired by Kurama.
Both menu batches feature two dessert options which include a Kurama sweets sandwich and Hiei Dragon of the Darkness Flame parfait.
To complement the dishes, six drinks will also be available, with each drink being inspired by a certain Yu Yu Hakusho character.
As a bonus, each order of a menu item will come with a free coaster with a design featuring one of the main Yu Yu Hakusho characters.
Aside from the complimentary coaster, the collab cafe also features a wide range of merchandise that will be available for sale. The merch includes acrylic stands, can badges, keychains, and more.
In case you need a refresher though, Yu Yu Hakusho is an anime series by studio Pierrot that’s based on Yoshihiro Togashi’s manga of the same name.
Both the anime and manga are among the most renowned series in the 90s, and they continue to be fan favorites to this day.
In its story, Yu Yu Hakusho follows Yusuke Urameshi, a juvenile delinquent who dies in an accident after saving a young boy from an oncoming car.
While he was supposed to be sent to the underworld for his delinquent actions, Yusuke’s unexpected act gave him a chance for redemption.
After passing a test, Yusuke returns to life as an “Underworld Detective” who is charged with investigating supernatural activity in the human world.
Given the series’ popularity, Netflix is currently working on a live-action adaptation which is set to release in 2023.
The Yu Yu Hakusho collab cafe will be open from September 3 to October 10, 2022, in the GiGO Café Ikebukuro in Tokyo and Namba in Osaka branches.
Given the expected high demand, the collab cafe will be available for reservation only. Info on reservations can be found on the official website.
