Yu Yu Hakusho is turning 30 this year and not surprisingly, the franchise is planning big things for the anime's upcoming anniversary. A new logo has just been unveiled and it promises an awesome update will be dropping next week!
The official Yu Yu Hakusho anime Twitter account shared the new logo celebrating the 30th anniversary which also features protagonist Yusuke Urameshi. Interestingly, the post also confirms that a commemorative illustration will be dropped on June 10, 2022, as part of a special project for the anime's anniversary.
It's great to see the anniversary logo and how it features Yusuke. We're hoping that the memorial illustration will feature Yusuke's companions Kazuma Kuwabara, Kurama, and Hiei as well.
There is little doubt that fans are excited about Yu Yu Hakusho's 30th anniversary and it is believed that the series could be set for a major comeback this year. A live-action series is reportedly in development at Netflix. Additionally, Toonami co-creator and SVP of Action and Anime at WarnerMedia Jason DeMarco teased that the show could be added to the Toonami programming block soon.
For now, Toonami has not yet confirmed whether Yu Yu Hakusho will be added to the programming block. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Yu Yu Hakusho first aired in October 1992 and is based on the manga by Yoshihiro Togashi. The anime follows the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent who is struck and killed by a car while attempting to save a child's life.
Yusuke undergoes several tests in the afterlife and is revived then appointed an Underworld Detective. His job investigating supernatural cases puts him in the path of an old schoolmate Kazuma Kuwabara, the fox demon Kurama, and the sword-wielding fire demon Hiei who help him with the investigations.
Details about the special Yu Yu Hakusho 30th anniversary project have not yet been shared. The commemorative illustration will be released on June 10, 2022.
