Netflix's You series is back for a fourth season. The show is divided into two parts with the first part getting released just a few days ago.

We already know that Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley) has moved on to London and assumed the identity of Professor Jonathan Moore. Although he believes he has been able to start over without anyone knowing his past, he starts receiving anonymous texts that make him paranoid. This leads him to start checking out his new circle of friends, the Oxford Circle.

As he follows Adam Pratt (played by Lukas Gage), he finds his name on Malcolm's (played by Stephen Hagan) notebook as someone who goes to The Sundry House every Thursday. There, he discovers that Adam secretly loves to have a golden shower.

But what exactly is a golden shower and is it safe? Here's what we know.

Medically, the correct term for this kink is urolagnia or urophilia. In the most basic of terms, however, a golden shower is basically a pee fetish with a BDSM component to it.

Believe it or not, there are some people who find getting urinated on arousing. Meanwhile, there are others who enjoy losing control and freeing their bodies of fluids onto someone who is eager to be on the receiving end. Those who enjoy the act also refer to it as watersports.

According to Men's Health, the activity "seems to be a more common fantasy among men compared to women."

So Is It Safe?

The act of getting peed on may be arousing, but it's also generally safe. The important thing is that the pee doesn't get on any open wounds or cuts.

But it's also important to be aware of a risk for chronic urine exposure as it can result to skin conditions like chemical dermatitis. This condition puts you at risk for skin infections, breakdown, and discomfort.

There are, however, some who get aroused by drinking pee. And while drinking a small amount may not be harmful, it can also strain your kidneys and put you at risk for renal failure.

As for those who find enjoyment in peeing inside a person's private parts, it can cause harmful bacteria to breed in these parts of the body.

It's really interesting for the writers of the show to introduce these kinks up to the viewers. Back in You Season 3, the show opened its viewers to the world of swingers. This time around, we're getting a peek into watersports, and it's not the kind you do at the beach.

You Season 4 Part 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
