Hunter x Hunter got a lot of attention last year when it came back from its longest hiatus yet. Soon after though, the series went into another break. Now, fans are getting excited as Yoshihiro Togashi hinted that the Hunter x Hunter manga will return from its hiatus soon.
After being quiet since early this year, Togashi posted an update on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account. This got lots of fans excited as it means Togashi has resumed working on his series.
This also means the current Hunter x Hunter hiatus won’t be as long as the previous one. This is great news for fans given how long the wait has been for new manga chapters.
Hunter x Hunter Entered Another Lengthy Hiatus in Late 2022
Hunter x Hunter is an incredibly popular manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, the notable creator of titles like Yu Yu Hakusho and Level E.
While the series started in the late 90s, its release schedule has been on and off due to Togashi’s health.
In 2018, the series went on a lengthy hiatus which lasted until the last quarter of 2022. The manga returned in October 2022, and soon, a new chapter was released every week until December of that year.
After the tenth new chapter, Togashi went on another break. This made sense considering Togashi’s chronic back issues.
The manga’s last release was Chapter 400, which came out on December 26, 2022. Since then, no new update about the manga’s status has been shared. Hunter x Hunter was even removed from Weekly Shonen Jump’s lineup.

Yoshihiro Togashi Shares First New Update in Months
Yoshihiro Togashi hasn’t indicated that he will stop working on the series, meaning fans have been eagerly awaiting its return. Their patience has been rewarded as Togashi finally shared a new update.
On his personal X account, Togashi posted an image along with the words “start over.” This indicates that he is now working on the next chapter.
Given the series’ popularity, Togashi’s post went viral among manga and anime fans as it got over 400k likes in just a bit over a day.
Based on his previous posts, it’s likely that Togashi will soon start sharing more updates as progress on Chapter 401 continues.
For now, there’s no word yet on when the series will return. Fans are hoping that Hunter x Hunter will return with Chapter 401 sometime in 2024.
