Yoo Hee Yeol Offers Apology After Plagiarism Allegations

On Tuesday, the singer-songwriter shared a statement through his agency’s official Instagram account.

As written on Antenna Official’s post, Yoo Hee Yeol noted that he received a notification about his A Most Private Evening sounding similar to Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Aqua. Since he is reportedly a fan of him, Yoo Hee Yeol reportedly composed something with similar chords while believing that it was a product of his creation.

“This, I cannot deny. Thus, I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for my failure in thoroughly examining the piece, and for disappointing many of you,” he said.

He also directly said his sorry to Ryuichi Sakamoto and his fans following the shocking issue.

As a result, he postponed the release of Yoo Hee yeol’s Life Music LP. He has also established direct communication with Ryuichi Sakamoto to fix the proper crediting and composition rights.

Antenna Faces Issues in the Past Months

Before the plagiarism allegations surfaced, Antenna revealed that its artists had been receiving malicious comments.

To protect them – Yoo Hee Yeol, Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Mi Joo, Sam Kim, and more – the agency told the public it would take strong legal actions against the people who shared posts online to harass, slander, and defame its artists.

Antenna added that it went through thorough monitoring and collected evidence to help them file lawsuits.

It has not released an update regarding the development, but it asked the fans to report any incident to the company.
