The final episode of Yellowjackets Season 2 was a shocking one for viewers as an important character gets a truly unexpected ending with Misty Quigley right in the middle of it all. Christina Ricci, who plays Misty in the second season, has opened up about the surprising death in the finale.
In Yellowjackets Season 2 Episode 9, the adult Yellowjackets agree to go forward with Lottie’s ritual, deciding to draw cards for a sacrifice. However, the hunt doesn't go as planned as everyone has their own ulterior motive.
When Lisa arrives, Misty tries to inject her with a fatal solution. However, Natalie gets in the way and is injected by mistake. Sadly, this leads to Natalie dying.
It's a shocking death for everyone including Christina Ricci, who had no idea that Misty would end up killing her own best friend.
"I didn't know until very shortly before we shot the episode," Ricci told Variety. She then admitted that the cast didn't want to say goodbye to Juliette Lewis, who plays adult Natalie on the show, just yet.
"We all love Juliette. I love Juliette. We've all gone through so much on the show and gotten so close, and fought and reconciled and love each other – and we're like sisters," Ricci said.
"I think we were all very upset and sad that Natalie was dying. And it was tough to shoot," she added.
"It was very emotional. We shot a lot more than ended up in the episode of me holding Juliette while she was dying and stuff," Ricci revealed. "Those were really tough scenes, and really upsetting. I ran into Juliette the next day in the airport, and we both started crying again."
It's unfortunate that Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis will not be able to continue working together by the next season. Still, Natalie's death means that there are even bigger things to look forward to in Yellowjackets Season 3.
