X-Men '97 scored a perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating as the highly-anticipated Marvel animated series finally premieres on Disney+ today.

Prior to its debut, the series had already garnered positive buzz as the early social media reactions from the Hollywood premiere last week were overwhelmingly enthusiastic.

There are a lot of expectations for the series since it is the long-awaited continuation of the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series from the '90s and it is the first X-Men project produced by Marvel Studios.

As of the writing of this article, X-Men '97 maintains a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on the 24 reviews that were gathered by the website so far.

While the number could decrease in the coming hours or days, it is an impressive score nonetheless since no other Marvel Studios project in the past has received a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

The series is off to a great start with its critical reception and there is no doubt that it is the reception that Marvel Studios is hoping for given the significance of the project.

Ross Bonaime of Collider praised the series for its animation as it "modernizes the classic designs while staying true to the dynamic action fans love" and called it Marvel's "best animated series yet."

Meanwhile, Mike Ryan of Uproxx enjoyed the series despite not being a die-hard fan of the original and it gave him "a lot of hope for the future of that franchise."

Alison Herman of Variety described the series as "a worthy follow-up to the beloved animated series" and celebrated the X-Men characters' coming home to Marvel Studios.

Nick Schager of The Daily Beast called the new series "a successful work of nostalgia that may provide a template for the Marvel characters' inevitable big-screen reboot."

This is a major win for Marvel Studios since it is their first X-Men project and it is a promising sign of how they will handle the mutants' much-awaited MCU debut in the near future.

Now, it is interesting to see if the momentum will continue with the release of Deadpool and Wolverine later this year which also explores the mutants in the MCU multiverse.
