The new Marvel animated series X-Men '97 retained the iconic opening credits of the original series with a more updated look.
The first two episodes of the highly-anticipated series have finally arrived today and fans already took notice of the opening credits as it mostly kept the style and theme song of the original.
There were previous concerns that the new series might veer away from the iconic hallmarks of the original. Fortunately, the trailer proved that it will still honor the past even with the updated look.

X-Men '97 Opening Credits Retains the Style and Theme of the Original
The opening credits of X-Men '97 retained the style and iconic theme song of the original X-Men: The Animated Series in the '90s.
The significant changes that fans notice are the updated character design, the widescreen aspect ratio, and the addition of Morph and Bishop in the individual billboard of the main characters.
Fortunately, the theme song remains the same and the familiar hallmarks are very much present even with the contemporary updates.

The decision to keep the iconic theme song of the original was Marvel Studios' intent from the beginning when they started developing the project.
Executive producer Brad Winderbaum revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that it was one of Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige's conditions when he pitched the idea of reviving the animated series.
"Following the success of What If…?, when we were able to make more animated shows, [X-Men ’97] was my first idea out of the box. And Kevin was like, ‘Alright, if we can get the [original] cast and we can get the song, let’s do it.’ And fortunately, we were able to do that," he said.
There is no doubt that the iconic theme song adds to the excitement of watching the series and it is a huge relief for fans that the opening credits did not have significant changes.
