Wonder Woman Sequel is Not Yet Set in Stone

The origin/solo movie of Diana Prince seems to be DC's biggest movie that both fans and critics are now waiting for. However, even with the seemingly justified hype showing off some great scenes and storylines for Wonder Woman, DC may not necessarily follow up with another movie the same way that Marvel prepares a threequel for its heroes' solo flights.

At WonderCon, Comicbook.com got was tuned in to the Warner Bros. panel where DC boss Geoff Johns revealed his thoughts about a possible sequel in the works. His response was simple yet surprising:

"I can't confirm that."

This begs the question of how DC is planning to create its universe in the first place. Unlike Marvel, which is about to see its 10-year plan of introducing its Avengers in separate and ensemble movies before the big fight-off next year, DC went the other direction. We've only seen one solo movie that elaborated on Superman's background, and we'll be seeing Wonder Woman's own origin story.

Batman v Superman is pretty much an introduction of Batman into the team, as well as the threat of Darkseid. There's also Suicide Squad, but apart from Batman's cameo, I can't fathom how they'll play role in the whole thing. Those are the only introductions we'll get before Justice League, slated for November 16.

And while DC still has loads of solo films coming—other JL-ers Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman all have one—we're not really sure now how things will follow after. Will there be another Justice League ensemble cast to battle off another baddie?

It's hard to top Darkseid, but Brainiac is a good second. Maybe an Injustice angle isn't far off?

Whatever the case may be, DC has yet to confirm if the superhero solos will have sequels. Hopefully Wonder Woman will hit all the right notes and bring DC back in gear for a more expanded universe.

Wonder Woman will be out in theaters on June 2.
