While Gundam will proceed as scheduled this weekend, the following episode will be moved. Recently, Gundam: Witch from Mercury revealed that Episode 18 will be delayed.
The announcement was made via the show’s official website which detailed the new release plans for the episode, as well as what will be shown during its timeslot.
This isn’t the first time that Witch from Mercury got delayed as several episodes were moved back in the first season. Though this is the first time that it will happen for Season 2.
The Witch from Mercury Gets a Recap Episode
Gundam: Witch from Mercury Season 2 Episode 6 (or Episode 18 if you count the two seasons as one) was supposed to air on May 14, 2023, at 5:00 PM JST (1:00 AM PT / 4:00 AM ET).
Now though, the episode will be delayed by one week. In its place, a recap episode will be aired.
According to the announcement, this special episode will recap the events of Episodes 13 to 17.
This isn’t the first recap episode for the new Gundam anime. Back in November 2022, a recap of the first six episodes was released because of the delayed release of Episode 7.
Anime fans likely won’t be surprised by this, especially as recap episodes are quite common in anime.
Aside from giving a useful recap for those who watch on TV, these episodes give the staff time to work on the show.

Gundam: Witch from Mercury Episode 18 Release Date, Countdown
While the first season of the anime began in October, the show ended in early January because of several delays.
Aside from the seventh episode, Episodes 11 and 12 were also delayed by a week each.
Unlike the Winter 23 fiasco caused by COVID, these delays were done to give way to holiday TV programs in Japan.
Thankfully, the new delay won’t be long as the 18th episode is expected to release on the following Sunday.
While the announcement on the website did not confirm it yet, it is expected that Gundam: Witch from Mercury Episode 18 will be released on May 21, 2023, at 5:00 PM JST (1:00 AM PT / 4:00 AM ET).
As for the recap episode, there’s no word yet on whether it will be released on streaming services outside Japan. Though it likely won't be, given that it's not available on some platforms.
