While its first episode may have been a bit of a slow burn, Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Season 2 had an explosive Episode 2 that revealed the secret of Gundam Aerial.
Gundam Aerial has been one of the biggest mysteries in the series.
After all, while every other Gundam causes harm to their pilots, Suletta is unaffected by piloting Aerial.

The Truth Behind Gundam Aerial and Eri Revealed
In the latest episode, Dawn of Fold members Sophie and Norea launched an attack on the dueling students of Asticassia, including Suletta.
There, they piloted their Gundam units with the aim of abducting Sarius Zenell.
While Norea wanted them to escape after, Sophie proceeded to attack Suletta.
While Suletta seemed helpless, Aerial acted on its own, confirming that something else is inside Aerial and that Suletta isn’t the one solely in control.
Elsewhere, Prospera Mercury confirms that her daughter Eri (aka Ericht Samaya) was fused into Aerial.
In the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury prologue, Eri was shown to have a natural propensity for piloting Gundam.
Now, Prospera has confirmed to Belmeria Winston that Gundam Aerial is Eri’s new body.
It wasn’t revealed yet how exactly this works, though this has been a theory among fans since the first season.
This sequence of events is something that many compared to Evangelion.
After all, the EVA units are similar in that they are also built with the soul of a human.

Suletta Mercury Continues to Be a Mystery
Despite being a long-running theory, many were surprised by how early the series revealed Aerial’s secret, though there are still many mysteries.
For now, the biggest mystery is Suletta Mercury. While she was originally believed to be Eri, it seems that Suletta is a possible sibling of Eri.
Because of Nadim Samaya’s death though, some fans believe that Suletta is a genetically engineered clone of Eri.
Whatever the case may be, what’s clear is that Prospera is simply using Suletta for her goals, which she claims to be for the greater good.
Given these shocking events of the second episode, fans can’t wait to see the third episode.
