Will Smith Dissed by Chris Rock's Mother, Says 'He Really Slapped Me'

Chris Rock has been staying clear of the whole Academy Awards controversy where he was slapped by Will Smith onstage. However, his mother appears to have a lot to say about the incident. Rose Rock is speaking up about the Oscars 2022 controversy, stating that the Bad Boys star "really slapped me" when he attacked her son.

Rose Rock was recently interviewed by WIS News and she decided to share her thoughts on what Will Smith did to her son on national TV.

"You reacted to your wife giving you the side-eye and you went and made her day because she was mulled over laughing when it happened," Rock said of Smith. She also pointed out that she was watching the ceremony at home and initially thought the incident was staged until "[Smith] started using obscenities."

Not surprisingly, Rose Rock has a lot of things to say about Will Smith. "When he slapped Chris, he slapped all of us. He really slapped me," she said.

Rock also lamented how Smith ruined her son's moment during the ceremony. Chris Rock was presenting the award for Best Documentary and she claimed people were too shocked to pay attention to the comedian.

"No one even heard his speech," Rose Rock said. "No one was able to just be in the moment because everyone was sitting there like, 'what just happened?'"

Since the incident, Will Smith has issued an apology to Chris Rock and the Academy as he confirmed his resignation from the latter. The Academy has since banned Smith from the award show for the next 10 years. In the meantime, Rock has not yet made an official statement about the incident.

In related news, Smith's Netflix film Bright 2 has been cancelled by the streaming service. Another project with Netflix has also been postponed.
