#IStandWithChrisRock Trends Following Will Smith and Chris Rock's Altercation at The Oscars

The 94th Academy Awards was a memorable event, not because of the winners in different film categories, but because of the shocking altercation between Chris Rock and Will Smith.

Renowned comedian Chris Rock did a monologue for The Oscars event, one including a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved hair, referencing it to the 1997's G.I Jane film, saying, "Jada, can't wait for G.I. Jane 2." The fellow nominees together with Will Smith appear to laugh at Rock's joke, however, a few moments later, Will Smith furiously stormed the Oscars stage and slapped Chris Rock.

While everyone is thinking if this is just another skit for the event, everyone got an idea that Will Smith is indeed enraged about Rock's joke. After returning to his seat, Will yelled, "Keep my wife's name out of your f****** mouth." Which turns into an awkward silence, and easily became the highlight of the event.

Now, the incident instantly went viral as some Twitter fans exchanged their thoughts regarding which side they are on. But generally, fans seem to side with Chris Rock.

Today, #IStandWithChris trends on Twitter, supporting the comedian after the slapping incident.

Later on, while accepting his Best Actor award for his latest film King Richard, Will tearfully apologized to his fellow nominees and the Oscars but didn't mention anything about being sorry for Chris Rock.

Hours later after the shocking incident, Will Smith posted his statement, directly pointing to an apology to Chris Rock.

Chris Rock didn't press charges against Will Smith after being humiliated not just in front of fellow stars, but in front of the whole world. Jada Pinkett Smith also didn't release any statement after the event.

This was very terrible for both Chris Rock and Will Smith as the two are very close friends. Nonetheless, the two definitely learned a very important lesson on that day, in a very hard way.
