Chris Rock Refusing to Talk About Oscars Will Smith Incident Until He 'Gets Paid'

People still couldn't stop talking about Will Smith and the Academy after what went down at the 2022 Oscars. However, the one person who isn't talking about the incident is the man who was in the middle of the controversy. Chris Rock has somehow chosen not to talk about the controversial moment when he was slapped by Smith, stating he won't share his side of the story until he "gets paid!"

Chris Rock has been busy since the whole incident at the 94th Academy Awards as he is currently on a national tour, selling shows every night. Still, he is choosing to remain silent about the Will Smith controversy and he finally revealed the true reason why.

"I'm OK, I have a whole show and I'm not talking about that until I get paid," Rock said during a stop in Indio, California. He then continued that "Life is good" before joking that "I got my hearing back," a reference to the slap.

It certainly sounds like Chris Rock and his team are planning to take an offer from networks who want to nab an exclusive on the comedian's take on the controversy. However, some fans also believe that Rock is simply unbothered and wants to move on to better things.

While Chris Rock appears to be taking things in stride, the same thing can't be said about Will Smith. As the one who attacked Rock on stage, the Suicide Squad star has suffered backlash despite issuing apologies to Rock and the Academy. Since then, Smith has resigned from the Academy claiming he will accept the consequences of his actions. The Academy has since responded by banning Smith from their awards ceremonies for 10 full years.

For now, Chris Rock has yet to share his side of the story. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
