At the end of Season 4, Joe and Kate move back to New York City and Kate uses the Lockwood name to help Joe get his old life back. They manage to twist the story in Joe’s favor – that he was living with a violent partner, Love Quinn, who was deeply troubled.

So now, Joe can be Joe Goldberg again, and he’s got this huge amount of resources at his disposal (he even bought a bookshop). Now that it’s safe for the anti-hero not to hide his identity, the question arises: will Joe come back for his son Henry?

It can be recalled from Season 3 that after Joe killed his former wife, Love, and fakes his own death and her suicide, Joe leaves Henry with his library co-worker Dante and his partner, Lansing. But before he drops off baby Henry on their doorstep, he does say to him that “this isn’t forever.”

We don’t see Joe’s son in Season 4. In fact, in Part 1, Joe only mentions him once when he’s opening up to Kate, but he doesn’t even tell her his name. This probably means that the subject is too painful for Joe, or that Joe has already moved on from his past life in Madre Linda.

In Part 2, Joe doesn’t even mention getting his son back. Towards the end of the season, during Joe and Kate’s interview, Joe merely tells us, viewers, that “public consensus is, I made the sensible choice to put my son in safe hands.” So it’s probably safe to assume that baby Henry is still with Dante and Lansing.

We’re not sure yet. In an interview with Collider in 2021, You star Penn Badgley wasn’t sure whether Joe would come back for baby Henry.

"I think, trying to give some reality to Joe, he's really, really mentally ill. I don't know that he has the capacity to hold onto anyone for that long," Badgley said.

Netflix hasn’t renewed the series for Season 5 yet. But if Henry is safe and happy with Dante and Lansing, he should definitely stay with them, not with his murderous father.
