The show's creator and executive producer, Elizabeth Banks, reveals that the show gives Bumper "a chance to reinvent himself in a world totally foreign to him." And at the same time, the experience helps him "grow into a full human in this series."

It is revealed that Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin takes place 10 years after his college graduation and Bumper is already working as a security guard. When he's not working, he's singing a cappella with his new group called the Tonehangers.
