How Did Kafka Become a Kaiju in Kaiju No. 8?
Following Kafka Hibino and Reno Ichikawa's struggle with the Yoju (smaller kaiju) that nearly claimed their lives in episode 1, they were sent to the hospital for treatment.
As they lay in their hospital beds, Reno invites Kafka to join him in taking the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force enlistment tests. He also thanked Kafka for his courage and for saving his life.
In return, Kafka decided to pursue his aspirations for the second time rather than run away from them.
In the heat of the moment, a little, unidentifiable flying kaiju materialized before Kafka and seized his body out of nowhere.
This flying kaiju appeared smarter than the others because it spoke, notifying Kafka that it had "found him" for whatever reason.
It entered Kafka's body, and within seconds, he transformed into a kaiju, although his mind and memories remained intact.

Why Was Kafka Chosen by the Kaiju in Kaiju No. 8? Fan Theories Explored
There are a lot of theories online that try to explain why Kafka was chosen by the kaiju in the series, particularly on Reddit, where fans love to post their speculations.
One theory holds that Kafka has a naturally lower power output than other humans, making him an excellent host who cannot fight back once inhabited.
In other words, the kaiju was likely hunting for someone it could connect with, and Kafka was the closest potential match.
Another theory suggests Kafka has no care for his safety, which might make him ideal as the kaiju's new host.
If so, the kaiju could use Kafka to wreak havoc without encountering any resistance or exposing itself in the process.
