Which Studio Is Animating Kaiju No. 8?
Kaiju No. 8 is a new Spring 2024 anime that’s based on the hit Shonen Jump+ manga of the same name. The anime was announced way back in mid-2022, and it finally premiered yesterday.
This new anime is being produced by Production I.G, the popular anime studio behind shows such as Haikyuu, Kuroko’s Basketball, and Heavenly Delusion.
Even though the two shows aren’t made by the exact same staff, Heavenly Delusion and Kaiju No. 8 are rather reminiscent of each other in terms of background art and the general style.
While the show’s animation has been praised, fans are still split regarding the show’s character design. After all, the anime’s characters look quite different from their manga counterparts.
What’s also a bit different are the kaiju designs. That’s because the anime’s monsters are designed by a notable anime studio.

Is Studio Khara Involved in the Kaiju No. 8 Anime?
Studio Khara was founded in May 2006 by Hideaki Anno, the creator of the iconic Neon Genesis Evangelion series. Thus, Khara was the studio behind Anno’s Rebuild of Evangelion movies.
While the Rebuild series is complete, Khara continues to be active in animation and some live-action productions.
Most recently, Khara has been credited for the kaiju designs of the Kaiju No. 8 anime.
Khara being tapped to work on monster designs makes sense. That’s because Khara’s work on the Rebuild of Evangelion series’ Angels and mechas is a perfect fit for the new project by Production I.G.

Kaiju No. 8 Anime: Where to Watch
The first episode of Kaiju No. 8 premiered yesterday on Crunchyroll in the US and other select regions. It is also one of the few shows of the spring 2024 season to have a simuldub in many languages.
Aside from Crunchyroll, the show also became the first seasonal TV anime to be streamed on X (formerly Twitter).
