Why the Russo Brothers Don't Want to Introduce Marvel TV Heroes on Avengers: Infinity War Films

Avengers: Infinity War may look like a long way off from its release, but time passes quickly, and considering the amount of Marvel characters that the Russo brothers are planning to feature in the films, two years is just the right time to introduce the massive MCU installment.

Joe and Anthony Russo teased previously that there will likely be around 67 Marvel characters in the two-part film that will culminate everything that has taken place in the MCU since 2008. 67 is a huge number, so it definitely begs the question whether Marvel TV heroes will at some point pop up in the films.

Unfortunately for fans, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are stating once and for all that the public shouldn't expect any Marvel TV hero appearances in the upcoming epic.

The Captain America: Civil War directors explained to Italian website BadTaste in an interview the difficulties they have to face with just introducing non-TV characters alone.

Joe said:

The Marvel Universe is sprawling - the Marvel Cinematic Universe is enormous. Just think of all the characters that haven't been introduced yet that are going to be introduced by the time that we're working on Infinity War.
We have a tough task just telling the stories of the characters who exist [on the big screen] in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, let alone adding the entire Marvel Television universe.
…Anything is possible in the Marvel Universe. It's certainly something we're considering. But our focus is on telling the stories of the characters that currently exist on the movie side.

It's only natural for fans to want to see the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones in the MCU, even for just a short while. During early March, a Marvel producer even teased a crossover between characters of the two genres, so rumors just wouldn't stop circulating.

However, it does seem that the Russo brothers are already preoccupied with introducing just the film heroes. In addition, Marvel's movie and TV are run by separate groups, therefore it would be hard to manage both sides.

While this is unfortunate news, Joe Russo did say they are "considering the possibility," so fans may still hold out some hope.

In any case, at the least, the directors have proven they can helm great films from their work with Captain America: Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. It's likely that they will once again create spectacular movies even without Marvel TV heroes in the Infinity War films.

Avengers: Infinity WarPart 1 is slated for release on May 4, 2018, while Part 2 will follow on May 3, 2019.
