Why Jurassic World 2 Will Be Scarier

The idea of dinosaurs coming alive and being trapped in a park where they are is a pretty terrifying idea in itself. Besides the mind-blowing idea of dinosaurs being alive in this day and age—science and genetic cloning be damned—there is also the idea of the survival instinct kicking in.

That's potentially the horror that Jurassic Park and the succeeding movies have given us. But for Jurassic World 2, there may be so much more in terms of horror, especially now that J.A. Bayona is taking the wheel as director of the sequel.

Colin Trevorrow, director of Jurassic World, seems to be in agreement of a lot of opinions swirling around that the sequel may be more terrifying. Speaking to CinemaBlend, he elaborated on Bayona's technique that makes his take so much scarier:

"J.A. Bayona is very good at [creating scares]. There are things that he'll just do with a shadow, or a rustling curtain on a wall. He's so tapped into that kind of fear, especially the fear through the eyes of a child. He and I are just simpatico, as an American and a Spanish person. We may be the mirrors of each other. It is by far the most satisfying collaboration of my life."

Even if Trevorrow is still writing the script, he is very much excited about the change in director, if only because Bayona's line of work not only impressed him, but that the collaboration will be able to take the franchise to a whole new place.

Jurassic World is already a success in itself, breaking records and bringing back the franchise with fresh new eyes. But given Bayona's line of work, which includes A Monster Calls and The Impossible, we'll probably be back on the edge of our seats for this new movie.

Jurassic World 2 will be out in theaters on June 22, 2018.
